From DeepSouth to Westcoast

Die Mississippi-Region gilt als Brutstätte der modernen Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts. Blues, Rockabilly, Folk und Country haben die Musik der 60-er Jahre grundlegend beeinflusst. In der zweiten Hälfte des Jahrzehntes entstand unter dem Einfluss der "British Invasion" ein gewaltiger Sog an die US West-Küste: Kalifornien wurde zum Rock/Pop Mekka, dem sich auch der bislang eigenwillige Süden zuwandte. "Hotel California" Komponist Don Felder beschreibt, wie

er und Ehefrau Susan auf Drängen von Stephen Stills im alten Volvo mit U-Haul Anhänger seinen Geburtsort Gainesville FL in Richtung West-Küste verliess - ein Konzert der Eagles in Boston hatte ihn zu diesem Entschluss bewegt: Dieser Sound aus Blues-, Rock- und Country-Wurzeln war daran, die Welt zu erobern.
