Multi-instrumentalist/singer/ songwriter Mama Miriama (USA) introduces her new world power trio featuring Drummer/ Singer/ Kora player /Storyteller Tormenta Jobarteh (Germay/Gambia), Bassist Felix Occhionero (Italy) and special guests tba. Afro-funk/highlife/ reggae and more mixed up with blues, jazz and roots Americana.
After over more than 20 years of travel and adventure in West Africa- Gambia, Senegal, Ghana and an epic overland journey from Banjul to Dakar, all across Senegal, Mali, and Burkina Faso, and all the way south to Accra, Ghana. Miriama presents a new set of songs and grooves inspired by these travels with expert accompaniment by Drummer/Storyteller Tormenta Jobarteh and Felix Occhionero on Bass.

Over the course of her musical journey, Miriama has shared stage and bill with such notable artists as Jimmy Cliff, Manu Dibango, Phish (The Great Went), Joan Armatrading, Wally Warning, Jobarteh Kunda, RasDashaN,, Hymn for Her, Breton guitarist Soig Siberil, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Tikan Jah Fakoly, The Reggae Cowboys, Kraut Rock pioneers Guru Guru and blues legend, John Mayall, among others.
In addition to her solo work, she has worked as guitarist, violinist and singer with Tormenta Jobarteh´s world music Ensemble, Jobarteh Kunda. She has also served as loyal sidewoman to Aruban great Wally Warning, playing in his Roots Band and his Gospel Trio. Tormenta Jobarteh and Wally Warning are both featured guests on her newly released CD, “Far and Wide”, a collection of travel and love songs.
We play our own original music which include covers from various genres played in our own style.
The vibe ranges from sweet and somewhat quiet, to swinging jazz, Rocking Blues and danceable and funky, as well as world grooves, reggae, highlife, soukous...

Guitarist-Singer-Songwriter Mama Miriama has always been on the path of the musician/traveler. Her quest for music has brought her to five continents. Stints in India, West Africa, Europe and Mexico mixed with her lifelong love of good 'ol RocknRoll, American style, have imbued her with her unique instrumental and vocal style. Her solo and group performances showcase her multi-instrumental talents on guitar, violin, and vocals. Her own original songs are mixed in with reworkings of traditional tunes and chants from many sources, interpretations and translations of the songs of songwriters met worldwide and new renditions of select covers and jazzy standards.
